Specialist-led, not corner-cut

Prosthetic case planning by named specialists.

Crown placement looks routine but the difference between a 5-year and a 20-year crown is the clinical decision-making at the planning stage. Our cases are planned by Dr. Pezo and executed by trained associates under his protocol. Full team bios are verifiable here.

The seven questions every crown patient asks first.

Direct answers. No marketing language. If you have an eighth, bring it to the consultation call.

How can you offer zircon crowns at 3 750 kr (€324) when Family Dental Care in Stockholm charges 13 500–16 500 kr (€1,174–€1,435)?

Three structural reasons. (1) Our CAD/CAM lab (Naturaldent) is in the same building — we don't pay external lab markup, which is typically 40–50% of a crown's Stockholm cost. (2) Croatian operating costs (rent, salaries, taxes) are roughly 40% of Stockholm's, without compromising materials — the zirconia blocks come from the same EU suppliers (Ivoclar, Zirkonzahn). (3) High-volume specialist practice — 90,000+ patients in 17 years. The 9 800–12 600 kr (€850–€1,100) saving per crown is structural, not a quality cut.

When do I need a crown vs a filling vs an implant?

Three clinical scenarios. Filling — when the tooth structure loss is small (less than ~30% of the visible crown), composite filling is the conservative answer. Crown — when more than ~50% of the visible tooth is missing or compromised (large fracture, post-root-canal, severe wear), or when an implant is being restored. Implant — when the tooth root itself cannot be saved (severe vertical fracture, extensive bone loss, hopeless prognosis). The decision is made at the 3D segmented scan, not at the chair.

Zirconia vs metal-ceramic (PFM) vs gold — which crown material is right for me?

Zirconia is our default for ~90% of cases. Metal-free, biocompatible, no grey gingival line, strong enough for posterior loads, aesthetic enough for anterior placement. Metal-ceramic (PFM) remains a valid option for some posterior cases on tight budgets — but the dark metal line at the gum margin shows over time, and you cannot get true translucency through the metal. Gold is still the longest-lasting material (50+ years documented), but most patients reject the aesthetic. We discuss the trade-offs honestly at consultation — not "zirconia is always best".

Do I need a root canal before the crown?

Sometimes. If the tooth has live pulp tissue and the damage is contained, a crown can be placed directly. If the pulp is necrotic, infected, or the cavity has reached the pulp chamber, root canal treatment (endodontics) is required before crown placement — otherwise the tooth dies under the crown and you have a bigger problem in 12–24 months. We perform endodontic treatment in-house when needed, and the pre-treatment 3D scan tells us upfront which path your tooth requires.

How long do zirconia crowns last?

Peer-reviewed survival data: ~95% at 10 years for properly placed monolithic zirconia crowns (Pjetursson et al., Clinical Oral Implants Research 2018 meta-analysis). With normal home care (electric toothbrush, regular hygienist visits, mouthguard if you grind), expect 15–20+ years before any consideration of replacement. The most common cause of premature failure is bruxism (untreated grinding) or trauma — both of which we screen for at consultation.

Will the new crown look obviously different from my other teeth?

Not when the case is planned properly. Shade matching happens at our in-house lab bench (not from a generic shade guide), and our ceramists adjust translucency, opacity, and surface texture to match adjacent teeth under daylight, fluorescent, and incandescent light. For multi-crown anterior cases we render a digital preview before placement. The "obvious-fake-tooth" look is a function of corner-cutting at the lab stage — exactly the step we control in-house.

Is the hotel included for a single crown trip?

Only for treatment plans above 57 500 kr (€5,000). A single crown at 3 750 kr (€324) sits well below that threshold, so the Loop Hotel is not included by default. We offer preferred-patient rates at The Loop (clinic-owned, 20 meters from clinic) — typically 800–1 050 kr (€70–€90)/night for our patients vs 1 400 kr (€120) list. Multi-crown or combined treatment plans (e.g. 4 crowns + 2 implants) can cross the threshold and unlock the included accommodation.

Honest framing

Where we are not the cheapest.

Single zirconia crowns in Istanbul or Budapest start at €180–€250. Ours start at €324. The €70–€140 delta buys you a named ceramist hand-finishing the shade, ISO 9001-certified milling in the same building as the surgical suite, and Croatian + EU consumer-protection recourse on the treatment contract.
